Army uncovers Boko Haram recruitment link on social media

The Nigeria Army on Tuesday said it had uncovered a Facebook and other social media accounts, allegedly used by a faction of the Boko Haram group to recruit new members.

Major Murtala Usman, Artillery Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, who disclosed this while speaking at the ongoing Nigerian Army Combat Support Training Week in Maiduguri, said the social media accounts had 2,000 followers.

Usman said that insurgents from the Albarnawi faction of the Boko Haram group were recruiting new members on social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, SnapChat, Instagram and the Youtube.

He said the army discovered this while interrogating a “highly placed  Boko Haram commander known as Malu-Mamman Barde’’, who was tracked and apprehended 40km South of Rann area in Kala-Balge Local Government Area of Borno.

“Barde is among the most wanted Boko Haram suspect that had committed so many atrocities against humanity.

“Through the suspect’s mobile phone, we found several videos soliciting finance for the group. We also found some other videos where Barde was seen preaching Jihad and the ideology of the group.

“Most of Barde’s pictures were that of Abu-Mosad Albarnawi and other Boko Haram fighter posing with Anti-Air craft guns, rockets and Boko Haram flag,’’ he said.

Earlier speaking, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai said that the training was to draw up strategies for various military operations across the country.

Burutai was represented by the Commander of Training and Doctrine, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Salihu.

He added that the training was designed to adopt new strategies to combat insecurity in the country through brainstorming and reviewing of operations.

“The nation faces series of security challenges, including Boko Haram insurgency, farmers/herders crisis, kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry and violence, among others.

Maj.-Gen. Abubabkar Tarfa, the Corp Commander Artillery, said the week-long training was a veritable platform for generating ideas for the combat arms.

The theme of the training was “Strengthening Combat Support Arms Cooperation in Contemporary Security Challenges.’’

Tarfa said it was designed to generate strategies for confronting current security challenges in the country.

Gorgeous Transgender Model Makes History in Miss Universe Contest

History has officially been made in the beauty world. For the first time ever, a transgender woman just might take the crown at the 2018 Miss Universe pageant!

    Beating Out The Competition

Beauty queen Angela Ponce competed against 22 other contestants in the quest for the crown of Miss Spain 2018. The transgender woman represented the Spanish province of Cádiz in the competition.

After qualifying rounds, Angela ultimately won the crown and honor of representing Spain in the Miss Universe pageant. She will be heading to the Philippines to compete with other hopefuls for the title. “Bringing the name and colors of Spain before the universe is my great dream,” Angela wrote on Instagram after her big win.

A Win For The Record Books

Angela made history by being the first transgender woman to win Miss Universe Spain.  She’s also making history by being the first trans woman to grace the Miss Universe stage.

Angela sees the win as a huge opportunity to represent not only Spain but the LGBTQ+ community. “My goal is to be a spokesperson for a message of inclusion, respect, and diversity not only for the LGBTQ+ community but also for the entire world,” she added online. With her win in Spain, Angela is helping to make strides for equality in the pageant world and beyond.

    Moving Towards Equality

Interestingly, the Miss Universe organization banned transgender contestants in previous years. Transgender model Jenna Talackova challenged the organization, threatening legal action for discrimination. The rule was eventually tossed in 2012 after several talks with GLAAD regarding equality for all women.

Now, Angela gets to represent her country and compete for the ultimate crown! Viewers will now get to see her compete alongside other contestants from around the world. Not only that, but it’s also a great opportunity to continue the fight for acceptance and respect for the LGBTQ community.

How Body Language Can Tell You That You’ve Chosen the Wrong Partner

Body language is a common way to express your feelings without words. In a relationship between 2 people, this language is very important as it influences their relations more than words and phrases do. Language expert, Yana German says, “It’s really complicated for men to put their thoughts into words. Thus, body language can contribute to a healthy relationship or become a sign that you’ve chosen the wrong partner. Unfortunately, because of stress and fatigue, we don’t pay enough attention to signals that our own bodies send to us, though these signs can say quite a lot.”

We have gathered some significant body signals that we should pay attention to if we begin to doubt our relationships.

    Growing apart

Some people think that distance makes the heart grow fonder. Others claim that it destroys a relationship. The perfect intimate zone distance between 2 people is 0–18 inches. If one of the partners becomes emotionally or physically distant and they don’t want to hold your hand anymore, it’s probably time to start thinking about the relationship and why you’re together.

    Constant questioning or overanalyzing

You shouldn’t feel the need to analyze your partner’s every step or action in a healthy relationship. If you doubt your partner or don’t trust them, you have to think about whether you have a future together or not.

    A different pace

It’s such a trifle but it’s still very important: gait synchronization indicates the inner sync of partners. Loving people try to walk at the same speed unconsciously. When there’s no harmony, there may be problems in the relationship.

    Smirking

It’s all about a condescending smile. When a person smirks, they show their superiority unconsciously. In a healthy relationship, partners are equal. That’s why if you notice that your partner looks down on you, it’s time to think about your relationship.

    Closed poses

Crossing the legs indicates that a person doesn’t feel any connection with their partner. If one’s arms or legs are crossed or they keep their hands in their pockets, it may mean that they aren’t interested in their partner anymore.

    Furrowed brows

Professor John Gottman’s studies show that contempt is one of the main reasons why couples get divorced. Furrowed eyebrows are a bright example of criticism and accusation. Gottman says, “No one likes to be criticized. When a person notices their partner’s disapproving look, they try to defend and protect themselves.” And these kinds of situations cause even more problems.

    Indifference

Your partner is probably indifferent to you if he or she doesn’t look into your eyes, picks up the phone before you stop speaking, interrupts you, doesn’t want to listen to you, comes home late, etc. Ignoring a partner is one of the ways to manipulate and suppress them. Your partner’s unwillingness to pay attention to your opinions and feelings means that you’ve chosen the wrong person.

Covering the neck with their hand

We all try to find ways to calm down in stressful situations. When people feel unsafe or they’re nervous and anxious, they cover or touch their neck with their hand. Such a gesture can also indicate that a person is hiding something from their partner.

    Friendly slaps on the back

Bonus: signs showing that a girl is into you

If a girl is playing with her hair when conversing with you, she’s just trying to show you she likes you. Sometimes she’s flirting without even realizing it. Look for signs that include running her fingers through her hair, twirling a lock around her finger, flipping her hair back, and so on.

Sometimes you can also notice a girl subtly biting her lower lip while talking to you. Or she may make a show of putting on her lipstick on in front of you. The thing is, a woman’s mouth is like a sexual “tool” and these little things she does are all performed to draw your attention toward her.

    RHAPSODY OF REALITIES ; 24TH JULY,2018 ; PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME; THE VICTORY MENTALITY ;

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ ( 1 Corinthians 15:57 ).
Anything is possible! This should be your mentality. Never think defeat, failure or weakness. Cultivate the winning mentality; the mentality that believes and affirms, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” ( Philippians 4:13
). That’s the victor’s mentality, and you develop it through the Word.
It doesn’t matter what your life has been like or the experiences you’ve had; one thing is certain: you’re a victor in Christ Jesus! Irrespective of the affliction, tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, destitution, perils, wars etc., that may be ravaging today’s world, you’re more than a conqueror: “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” ( Romans 8:37 ).
Trust the Lord and hold on to His Word. When you go through challenges, don’t complain! The Lord knew there’d be challenges, but He gave us the assurance that we’ll be triumphant always: “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place” ( 2 Corinthians 2:14 ).
Your victory is a settled fact. 2 Corinthians 4:17 says, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory”; this is a present-hour truth. Nothing is, and can ever be to your disadvantage. Romans 8:28 declares, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Have this consciousness!
    CONFESSION
I’m triumphant forever, because I’m born of God; greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world. My life is for the glory of God. I win every day; that’s my heritage in the Lord! I’m strong in Him, and in the power of His might to do exploits! Blessed be God!

3 weird things about orgasms you need to know

How much do you really know about orgasms? Do you know how long they last? Do you know what they do to your brain? There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to have an orgasm because you can get with some help from sex toys, your bae or just yourself.

So here are some cool facts about orgasm you need to know about.

    1. Orgasms can last up to 20 seconds

While the average female orgasm can last from six-eight seconds, some studies have shown that women can orgasm for up to 20 seconds. Some say the key to achieving this is being focused on doing the deed, and keep your mind clear of anything else.

    2. They can cure headaches

Researchers have found that certain chemicals released in the brain during an orgasm can act as a pain-killer, and even ease headaches. So next time you feel your head hurting, you'll know what to do: Masturbate or go meet bae.

    3. They increase your sense of smell

After you orgasm, your brain releases a hormone called prolactin in your brain's 'smell center.' Essentially, your brain is a lot more sensitive to smells after an orgasm, so you might be extra hungry after you have one, since your brain will be attracted to yummy smells like food.

Nigerians applaud singer Falz over sexual violence video

Nigerians and the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) have lauded singer, Folarin Falana a.k.a Falz for addressing sexual violence in his latest music video.

The reactions came after the award wining artiste announced the release of the video titled “Child of the world” on his social media platform @falzthebahdguy FALZ – “Child Of The World” official video out”.

According to DSVRT, it acknowledged Falz’s effort to speak up about “real life issues” on their official twitter account.

@DSVRT “We would like to use this medium to appreciate Falz for spreading the word on Sexual Abuse in the recently released video for his song, Child of the World.

“Together we will tackle this menace. Thank you for pointing Survivors in the direction of Help and Justice @falzthebahdguy”.

There has been a popular demand for Nigerian music artistes to use their art to speak on issues affecting the Nigerian society and lifestyle.”

While Some Nigerians took to Twitter to praise the idea behind the music video others called on more artistes to do same.

@iambussie “In a country where we got artiste doing songs and videos just for the commercial value, its rare to see the kind of Falz”.

@alpha_jenner “Falz touched sexual harassment, HIV/AIDS and suicide all at once with Child of The World. So far Falz seems to be doing everything as an artist to speak against societal problems”.

@elsieisy “Our celebrities don’t speak on social issues,

Let’s pay attention to the ones speaking up in an amazing way”

@ifol_ “From child of the world to this is Nigeria to whatever the next project is we just want you to know we your fans at proud of you”.

Others said the idea behind the song was well depicted by ex Big Brother Naija housemate Bambam in the music video.

She acted as the “Child of the world” who was sexually harassed by her uncle.

Also, societal pressure forced her to get involved in sexual acts with rich men to raise money to live a certain standard of life.

This latest video is reminiscent of the music video titled “This is Nigeria” which was released by Falz earlier this year, also touching on issues affecting the Nigerian populace.

Meanwhile, Kemi Adetiba the music video director, thanked Nigerians for the feedback on the new video as it is currently YouTube’s number 1 trending video.

“Overwhelmed by the avalanche of messages and reposts on the new “Child of the World” video

It felt great to go back to where it all started… Music Videos.

Thanks to Falz for being an incredible Artiste, an amazing song, and thinking I was the one able to interpret it.

Thank you to Toyin Abraham and Bambam for giving up their precious time and bending to my creative madness.

Kelly Rowland on the moment she knew her husband was ‘The One’

Kelly Rowland “almost” walked away from marriage because she was “scared” about committing herself to one person

The 37-year-old singer has admitted she was “nervous” about giving her full commitment to Tim Weatherspoon – with whom she has three-year-old son Titan – at the start of their relationship, but she soon learnt to embrace it.

In an interview with Vogue Australia, Kelly – who tied the knot with Tim in 2014 – spilled: “At the beginning, I was scared of the idea of loving one person. I was nervous about being with one person for the rest of my life.”

The Stole hitmaker blames her string of bad relationships on her past outlook, but her fears went away when Tim suggested they go on a “break”, because she knew from his response they were meant to be together.

Recalling their conversation, she continued: “I’d had the worst relationships and I was so scared and said: ‘How about we take a break from dating?’ and he said: ‘What if we took a break from dating and God sent you a guy and that guy was me?’ And I was like click! I hung up the phone.

“I’d had the worst relationships and I was so scared and said: ‘How about we take a break from dating?’ and he said: ‘What if we took a break from dating and God sent you a guy and that guy was me?’ And I was like click! I hung up the phone.”

“I was scared, because I knew he was my husband in that moment. And I almost ran away from that, but I just embraced it.”

The Destiny’s Child star wouldn’t be without her spouse as he is her “rock” and she admires him, despite him being a “freak” and an “a**hole” from time to time

Kelly admitted: “Marriage is awesome, it has its ups and downs, like anything in life, but it’s incredible.

“My husband is my rock, my best friend.

“He believes when I don’t, believes that anything can work and that anything is possible in such a positive light.

“I think he’s a freak sometimes, no-one can see things like that, but he’s a realist and he’s positive and he’s an a*sh*le, but I love him for everything he does, like in the cutest way of an a**h*le.”

The Do's And Don'ts Of Effective Get-The-Guy Flirting, Says Science

You can be a catch, too!

When it comes to flirting , many experts in the field of love and dating offer so much advice on the do's and don'ts. Do twirl your hair and flutter your lashes. Don't cross your arms because you appear unwelcoming. Do wear nice clothes. Don't overdo it. Do talk about something interesting about your life. Don't talk about your kids or your last divorce.

There are many flirting tips just like these. Sometimes they go well, and sometimes they go horribly wrong. But what if you base your flirting on science? That is, the science of attraction .

According to a Medical Daily article by Chris Weller, there is a science to flirting in a way that can spark positive results. Here are 5 do's and don'ts of flirting that will teach you how to flirt, according to science.

    1. Don't assume your intention is obvious. Do communicate clearly.

    Blogspot

When we flirt with someone, we often assume that they know that we're flirting with them and they are reciprocating. This is called signal amplification bias , where we assume that people can pick up on what we want them to feel and will react accordingly. And this is where the misunderstandings begin.

A man may be flirting intensively with a woman while waiting in line for coffee at Starbucks, but she thinks he's only being friendly and striking up a conversation while they wait.

"Instead, be direct — not obtuse, but not coy either. Communicate your feelings when they count," says Weller.

    2. Don't use a wingperson. Do follow your instincts.

Contrary to popular belief, having a wingman or wingwoman doesn't really help with attracting someone. This only results in miscommunication between you and the person you intend to flirt with and get to know.

But if you absolutely must have a wingperson, choose a wingman. According to a study done by psychologists from the University of Kansas , subjects were shown videos of people interacting and had to guess if the people were flirting or not. The subjects guessed correctly only 38 percent of the time. However, men performed better at identifying flirting compared to women.

    3. Don't focus on the physical looks. Do get to know the person.

    Tumblr

This seems like common sense, but many fall for the physical looks prior to the personality. Studies have shown that it's men's "level of explicitness and social affiliations" that predicted a successful chemistry between men and women, not the men's looks.

"This isn’t to say looks don’t matter. They just don’t matter the most ," says Weller.

    4. Don't be pale-faced. Do add some color to your face.

A team of researchers found that "the intensity of red coloration in males is associated with social dominance, testosterone levels, and mate selection."

Flushed cheeks attract , but not too much or you'll appear aggressive instead of flirtatious. For the ladies, this is when your favorite blush comes in handy. A little pink flush doesn't hurt. As for the men, however, "If you can help it, stay a little flushed. Maybe your crippling embarrassment can help with that," says Weller.

    5. Don't be silent and brooding. Do open up.

    Tumblr

As much as you want to appear strong, mysterious, and brooding... don't. This may seem endearing at first, but then it also repels attraction .

This 20 year old cultist kills for ₦10k each and wears hijab to kill targets

A female member of a notorious cult got arrested by the Police in Lagos and has made a startling revelation on how she killed members of rival cult groups and any other person for a fee of N10,000.

While speaking when she was paraded by the Police in Lagos on Monday, a 20-year-old self-confessed sniper of the dreaded Eiye confraternity, Mariam Abiola, revealed how she killed four rival gang members in the Ilasamaja area of the state.

The young girl who admitted dropping out of school in SS3, was arrested on Monay morning together with three male accomplices by a police team from the Ilasamaja division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Titilayo Oriyomi.

While making her confessions to police interrogators, she said it was easier for her to operate unnoticed wearing a hijab, adding that a member of her gang she described as an herbalist always prepared charms for her before she embarked on any major operation.

“He said I needed to blend into the system by being a member of the Eiye confraternity. I agreed. Thereafter, Sadiq taught me how to use a gun. By the time I went through training three times, I knew how to fire accurately.

“Anytime I was going to kill, Sadiq would give me the person’s picture and send the address to my phone. I usually wore a white male flowing gown and white hijab whenever we were going to kill any rival member.

“We always went in a group of four, including Wasiu and Segun. The gun was usually tucked inside my white flowing gown.

“On getting to the target’s house, which was usually at night, other members would jump through the fence and open the gate for me.

“I would enter and fire the person in the chest and forehead before leaving there.

“I have killed four persons. None of our targets survived. I killed one guy at Fadeyi area of Lagos. Another one at Hassan area, one at Ajeh area.

“At the end of each killing, Sadiq would pay me N10,000 and five others N20,000.

“I had struck at Fabiyi, Hassan and Aje streets and another street, all in Ilasamaja.

“Before we leave for any killing, we would visit the herbalist who would give us charms to put residents to sleep until the operation is concluded. I never felt bad killing anybody.”

Meanwhile, Sadiq also admitted being a member of the Eiye confraternity but denied knowing Abiola.

Speaking on the arrest, Lagos State commissioner of police, CP Imohimi Edgal said, “It is shocking to see a young lady of Abiola’s age talk of killings. Parents should do more by monitoring their children.

“It is worrisome that her confession are startling, chronicling the number of killings. Apart from being an assassin, she was also an armourer for her gang.”
